The History & Origins of the Foundation

The original funding for the Foundation was a bequest from the General Agents and Managers Association of Wisconsin (GAMA). It was a part of GAMA Wisconsin's assets at the time of its earlier dissolution. At the time of its dissolution, half of its remaining assets were given to NAIFA Wisconsin as seed money for this foundation and half was sent to GAMA International.

Subsequent to the death of James H. Krueger, CLU, ChFC, FIC, MSFS, MSM, CLF in 2005, the second half of GAMA Wisconsin's assets were returned to Wisconsin as a memorial to Mr. Krueger who, at the time of his death, was president of GAMA International. In return, the Foundation for Insurance & Financial Education made a commitment to continue the longstanding tradition of high quality field management education that was such a large part of Jim Krueger's career as part of its mission.

These two important bequests from GAMA affiliates enabled the creation of the Foundation for Insurance & Financial Education. Since its creation, the Foundation's boards and ambassadors have worked to simultaneously launch mission driven activities while continuing to build a core endowment.
